Judicial Lunacy

This is an exact headline from The Columbus Dispatch:

"Judge rules Ohio homeless voters may list park benches as addresses"

What?

The U.S. district court judge that made the ruling - Edmund A. Sargus, Jr. - was appointed to the court by President Bill Clinton in 1996. Surprise, surprise.

Injustice for a Cop Killer

Just read on Power Line that convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal's death sentence has been overturned. What is completely disgusting is this murderer being described as a "human rights campaigner".

Want to know the truth about Mumia Abu-Jamal? Start here, at the memorial site for Officer Daniel Faulkner, who was murdered in cold blood by Mumia Abu-Jamal.

I am anti-death penalty except for extreme cases, and the murder of a police officer certainly qualifies. Mr. Abu-Jamal deserves the lethal drip courtesy of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (actually, he deserves worse), and it's over 25 years too late.

AC Judge Manning: Troubling Story

This article, "Judge Manning facing federal inquiry", troubles me. One of my dilemmas as a voter are those "judge retention" elections, where basically you get to say yea or nay on whether or not a jurist should remain on the bench. I usually don't cast a vote for those, since I don't know enough about the judges in question.

Allegheny County Judge Jeffrey Manning, however, is one that I always pull the lever for his retention. I've read about and followed some of the cases he's presided over, and by all accounts he is fair yet strict in applying the law to the letter as it is written.

I sincerely hope that the referenced investigation turns up nothing and that Judge Manning is vindicated of these allegations of preferential treatment to a defense attorney that he is reportedly friends with.
